Abstract

A better understanding of the NK cell receptor-ligand interaction opened possibilities for new therapeutic strategies. The well known mismatch KIR/HLA interaction is of great importance for NK cell stimulation. Lately, the interaction of the activating receptor DNAM-1 with its ligand PVR, has been highlighted in many ovarian carcinoma studies. Autologous and allogeneic NK cells, along with monoclonal antibodies, have been tested in current immunotherapies. This review presents information on NK cell receptor-ligand interactions and its possibilities for NK-based immunotherapy against ovarian cancer.
